About | Denver Wedding Photographer Ashley Kidder

Hello! I am Ashley Kidder, a Denver wedding photographer + I’m so happy to meet you! Let me tell you a little about myself, my company, and my passion: photography!

As the owner and operator of Urban Safari Photography, I have worked with couples and families throughout Colorado and across the world to capture their special moments from behind the lens of my trusted Canon. As a Colorado wedding photographer, I have the pleasure of using the Rocky Mountains and the Denver skyline as a backdrop for dozens of couples every year.

Currently, I am available for destination weddings worldwide and specialize in wedding photography, engagement photography, boudoir photography, senior photos and portraits. To see if I’m free for your wedding date, check out my available dates.

About My Style: Weddings

There is nothing more that I enjoy than to spend your special day with you and your loved ones, documenting every moment, both big + small, in a photojournalistic fashion. Using this style I like to capture candid moments between the couples + their families whom I photograph. On your wedding day, I try not to get in your way too much and I will never make you do a goofy pose that you don’t feel comfortable in.

I appreciate all aspects of your wedding day. From the hair + makeup details to the hand-crafted invitations to the floral-studded centerpieces, I make sure to capture all of those little details that you spent hours preparing are documented. These images are essential if you decide to craft an album later, and it is my absolute pleasure to capture them.

There are so many beautiful parts of a wedding day. One of my favorite times of the day is when it’s just you, your newly-declared spouse and me + my camera. During this time, I will probably ask you to smooch each other. A lot. On the lips, the cheek, the forehead, the nose. Be ready! Because I believe infinitely in affection and I hope you do, too. Little touches here and there, hugs of all shapes + sizes, butterfly kisses — I adore it all. :)

About My Style: Engagements

I firmly believe that engagement sessions are paramount to a successful wedding day. It is the perfect opportunity to do a “test run” and really get to know me as your photographer and I, you, as my madly-in-love models. We will casually shoot for around an hour or longer, depending on your preferences. We can pick a location anywhere in the Denver metro area and mountain locations like Breckenridge or Georgetown. Fort Collins, Boulder, Colorado Springs — we can go wherever you feel a strong connection. If you’re not sure where you’d like to take your engagement photos, I’d be happy to help provide suggestions.

More than anything, I hope to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera during your engagement session. I hope we laugh + goof off all the while capturing images that you can display on your mantlepiece, in a save-the-date or simply on Facebook. If you have anything sentimental to you that you’d like to bring to the shoot, please feel free! Dogs are always welcome, too. Especially if your dog is a corgi, because then I’ll bring my corgi, and it can be a corgi party-slash-photo shoot, which sounds pretty awesome to me.

About My Style: Senior portraits

When I was in high school, I had a friend’s dad do my senior pictures in their backyard up in Bailey, Colorado. I had no idea what to do for posing. Should I smile at the camera every time, or look away? What do I with my hands? My legs? My body? Should I wear this cowboy hat? I wasn’t quite familiar with the idea of senior portraits and was too shy to ask any of these questions at the session. My goal is to eliminate any and all fears + insecurities you, as a rockstar senior, might have at your senior session.

I understand that it’s intimidating to be in front of a camera. I was incredibly introverted in high school and am still very shy to this day, and even now, as a 28-year old, I still get nervous when I’m being photographed. Hopefully, you won’t feel like that at your senior portrait session. Senior sessions will always be laid-back, relaxed and fun, and like I do with my wedding couples, I will never put you in a pose that feels weird or uncomfortable. I like to pose people naturally and casually; nothing crazy.

On the day of your session, feel free to bring a few different outfits that you’d like to use for your photos. The best wardrobe recommendation I can make is to always bring something casual, something fancy, and something funky, plus a variety of shoes + accessories to add to the mix. Having your hair + makeup done professionally is also a fabulous idea, and I can give you referrals for the beauty pros who I’ve worked with in the past.

The location you choose should definitely connect with who you are as a person. If you’re outdoorsy, let’s go to the mountains or a park. If you prefer a night out on the town, let’s head downtown and walk the 16th Street Mall. I am always happy to give you recommendations for photo locations.

About Me: The goober behind the lens

There are few things I love more in life than burritos, especially barbacoa burritos from Chipotle. With extra sour cream.

I drink my milk with ice, and a straw, in a chilled glass. It’s a very specific process.

My corgi is my world! Sherman is the best snuggle-buddy I could ask for, and I love her, despite the white hair that blankets my apartment, my car, my clothes, my toothbrush…you name it.

I’ve always been oddly proud that I can rap all the words to Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby”.

The yellow Vitamin Water is hands-down the best flavor of all Vitamin Waters.

I speak French fluently and used to teach high school French for five years at Northglenn High School.

Yoga is my preferred workout method. CorePower is my favorite, and on Tuesdays you can find me sweating buckets at Krista’s sculpt class at the 13th and Grant studio at 630 pm.

And of course, I like to take pictures quite a bit. Especially of you. :)

  • John Ovenshine - Hi Ashley,

I’m writing to ask if you are the Ashley Kidder I remember from PALY during the late
70’s and early 80’s. If so, can you tell me what Marilyn is doing? Last I heard she
and Scott got married and moved to CO. If it’s you I’m sorry about your dad.

I’ve researched your work and it’s very beautiful. Congrats on everything.

    Sincerely,

    John Ovenshine

    Marilyn would remember me.
