For today’s blog feature, I am so excited to bring you Laurie + Trevor’s Denver engagement session! Laurie + Trevor decided to do their Denver engagement photos at two locations: Don’s Tavern was our first stop, where Laurie + Trevor first met, and then at Cheesman Park, where we soaked in the evening sun at dusk. I’m super excited to have met these two, who were referred to me by my lovely couple from April’s Della Terra wedding, Kayla + Brian.

For our first photo stop, we swung by Don’s Tavern off 6th Avenue and Clarkson Street, where Laurie + Trevor first met. Afterwards, we went to Cheesman Park for the gorgeous sunset portion of the shoot.

About the couple

How did you meet? We met at Don’s Tavern, at 6th and Clarkson. He was wearing a Cubs hat, and I am a loyal Cubs fan who had just moved to Colorado. I couldn’t resist not sparking up a conversation about it!

How did you become engaged? Trevor put up a display of pictures from our four years together in our new house. He had them placed in a big arch on the floor from the front door to our dining room mixed with tea light candles. Each picture had a memory starting with, “Remember when we…?” The last picture I saw included a message that read, “Look at the memories we have made, but I look more forward to those to come. I couldn’t imagine my life without you. Will you marry me?” It was low-key and intimate; perfect for us.

What do you love about each other? [Laurie] I love how composed and rational he is; he always has a way to calm me down and think of a solution to every problem we face. He also makes me laugh a bunch, and I never feel alone in anything I take on. [Trevor] I like her smile, her sense of humor, and how driven and passionate she is.

How did you end up selecting your wedding venue? What do you like about it? We heard about the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield through our good friends, Jes and Nik. They liked this venue when they were venue-hunting last year. It was actually the first and only venue we looked at. It’s perfect for our laid-back personalities and promotes everyone to just have fun!

What are you most excited about for your wedding day? The ability to share our vows and commitment with each other and without closest family and friends.

What is one piece of advice you can give to others planning their weddings right now? Delegate tasks to be completed by family and friends. No need to take everything on by yourself.
