A little while ago, a friend of mine, Mindy, who also happens to be a photographer out in the Bay Area, told me she was visiting Denver for the weekend and asked if I had any shoots set up that she could jump in on. At the time, I didn’t have anything scheduled for when she was going to be in town, so in typical me fashion, I figured, “Why not get a styled shoot together?” So I did, along with the help of a huge group of incredibly amazing Denver vendors.
The first person I reached out to was Nicole with Pretty Bride Shop, who is an extremely talented makeup artist who has worked under celebrity makeup artists out in LA. She then connected with Desiree and Adrian at the Denver Fashion Truck, who are über-creative small business pioneers who happen to drive around a sweet truck full of awesome clothes. I touched base with one of my preferred vendors, The Perfect Petal, and Kit was able to come up with a stunningly wicked floral crown for the shoot. After that, I spoke with Chelsea from MENTE Freelance Beauty Troupe, who agreed to do the killer beehive and curls on the models (thanks Lovesick for introducing us!). Finally, I asked one of my best girls and frequent second-shooter Kim to come to the shoot, too. And to round out our list of vendors, Nancy from Chairs with Character provided us with a few vintage chairs that you’ll see in the upcoming blog post of all the shoot images.
The models, Clare and Courtney, got ready at The Studio, which is a gorgeous open space that you can rent for almost anything: workshops, boudoir photo shoots, company parties. We had tons of perfect, diffused afternoon light pouring in so I took a few behind the scenes of the whole styled shoot coming together. It’s not often that we see these types of photos for a shoot, so I thought I’d post a few before the big reveal of the rest of the shoot. Which, by the way, I cannot wait to post. Check back soon for photos of the real deal from this shoot, but for now, enjoy a little teaser and a look behind the scenes. Thanks for stopping by!
