This past weekend, I teamed up with two other amazing Denver fashion photographers, Jennie from Green Blossom Photography and Kyla from Kyla Fear Photography, and together we put on a film-only shoot-out, with two models and a dozen rolls or so of 35mm film. I shot with three different types of film:
- Kodak Gold 200, which produces rich, warm tones
- Kodak Portra 800, which gives a more moody, desaturated look
- Expired Fuji Superia 100, which brings soft pink tones and plenty of grain
We shot around the Santa Fe Art District, where I’ve done a few senior portrait sessions in the past as it offers a wide variety of urban textures, backdrops and colors to incorporate into the photos. We took turns helping each other light shots or hold the reflector, and I really enjoyed being out with two other like-minded photographers for fun. No stress, no pressure; just three of us with old film cameras and our eyeballs.
Below are some of my favorites from Janelle’s session with me. Stay tuned + check back with the blog for more from this session with our second model from the shoot, Taylor!
