This past summer, I was super fortunate to shoot a few events for Fashion Denver, where I met Matison + Yulia, the beautiful models who grace this blog post today! Along with one of my very best photographer friends, Kyla, we hit my favorite desolate urban location for some Denver fashion photos. Only this wasn’t your typical fashion shoot. We’ve got overalls, jelly sandals (do you remember those?!), dark purple lipstick, plus some sparklers and crazy awesome artificial (and natural) light.

One of my main goals for this past season (that will surely bleed over into the off-season this year) was to work on my editorial and fashion work. While I love weddings and portrait sessions, I really appreciate the freedom you have when working with a model + just a few different outfits and accessories. The combination of no time limits plus an endless jungle of creativity is an ideal setting for a photographer striving to improve their craft and create something fresh, different and new. Even though it’s not a wedding, the practice of posing gorgeous women will definitely apply to shooting weddings in the future.

I can’t wait to keep working towards building a stronger editorial portfolio. If you are a model and are looking to shoot something a little beyond ordinary fashion work, definitely contact me! I’ll have a few spots for shoots like these this coming winter.
