For this month’s installation of Urban Safari’s Industry Interviews, I hit the Denver fashion scene for a shoot with Amy Cabrera of Lotti Clothing. We did a fashion shoot of some of Amy’s new clothing line pieces in the alleyways behind Larimer Square, and she sat down with me for an impromptu interview about her new company. Fashion is one of my favorite things to photograph, and I love how these photos turned out! The models were so wonderful to work with and it was really great to get to know Amy + more about her influence in the fashion world.
Urban Safari: Tell us a little bit about your company.
Lotti Clothing: We specialize in women’s clothing: sweaters, dresses, shirts + skirts.
Urban Safari: How long have you been in business? What prompted you to start your own clothing line?
Lotti Clothing: We have been in business for one year. I have always loved designing clothes; it’s art to me. I enjoy the creative process of finding the fabric and putting together the idea that was in my mind. I strive to design pieces that make women feel beautiful and fit them well. Lastly, I’m blessed to have the opportunity to use the clothes to establish a non-profit project, close to my heart, and make a difference in someone else’s life.
Urban Safari: What are some of the perks of being an entrepreneur + owning your own business? What are some of the challenges?
Lotti Clothing: I love to be able to be in control of the designs. It’s a joy to not work for anyone; I am my own motivation. However, it’s been an enormous amount of work and there is always something to do. Designing is a year round job without breaks. When your fall collection is out, you are busy working on the spring collection.
Urban Safari: How would you describe the fashion scene in Denver?
Lotti Clothing: The fashion scene in Denver is growing fast. We have many established yearly shows from Cherry Creek to Denver and Colorado Fashion Week. I’m excited to be a part of the fashion world in Denver and look forward to seeing how it changes and grows.
Urban Safari: What advice do you have for aspiring models looking to break into the fashion and editorial modeling?
Lotti Clothing: Make sure that whatever you have your mind set on, you press on with your whole heart and love what you do. Be involved with as many fashion shows as possible and get your name out there. Be open to correction and find an advocate who can mentor you.
Amy, thank you so much for having me along for this shoot! I can’t wait to see more of your designs come to life!
