Denver Makeup Artists | Pretty Bride Shop Industry Interview

I am so excited to feature this Industry Interview today, featuring one of the best Denver makeup artists in the Mile High City: Nicole Ramirez from Pretty Bride Shop! The timing on this is perfect, as Nicole is in the early stages of setting up Colorado’s first mobile bridal boutique! Follow her on Instagram to get the latest updates from this insanely cute idea. Brides-to-be, can you imagine getting your wedding makeup done in a cozy vintage camper?! Such a fab idea!

In the past, I’ve worked with Nicole on many occasions. We’ve done styled shoots together (two, to be exact; one fashion styled shoot and one wedding styled shoot) and I consistently refer her to brides for their wedding day makeup. We sat down for a little chat about her company this past winter. Enjoy our convo + photos from a recent makeup party below!

Urban Safari: How did Pretty Bride Shop get started?

Nicole Ramirez: It all started as a school project! While I attended Metro State University’s Center for Innovation (CFI) program, I started the business plan as a final for a CFI course. Pretty Bride Shop originally was going to be a dress shop but over the years we have evolved into an “everything but the dress” shop.

What services do you offer through Pretty Bride Shop?

We offer a wide range of services and the list keeps growing! Our most popular services are the wedding day makeup services which include all the fun add-ons like airbrush makeup and false lashes. We offer deluxe photography makeup, which is great for boudoir, family photos, engagement photos, the rehearsal dinners and many more occasions. Additionally, from time to time we offer makeup lessons + parties [editor’s note: I’ve attended one of these makeup lessons and loved learning all sorts of neat tricks from Nicole!]. We have pre-wedding spa services like lash and brow tinting, body treatments, waxing and more. We are also happy to offer custom design services including veils, garters, flower girl baskets.

And lastly, starting this year, Colorado brides can rent our mobile bridal suite powered by Vert Beauty!

How do you cater to the Denver brides and bridesmaids?

When we are catering to a bride we get to know her personal style. Every detail she feels like sharing is an important detail to us. We listen to what each individual lady likes to look like so that we can create a look that is true to her personality. When we do makeup we will go on location. Our main goal for our day-of services is that everyone feels relaxed and like a more polished version of themselves. I love hearing that everyone felt pretty and happy with the makeup applications. When we make custom bridal accessories, we work with the bride to create a piece that fits their personal style and completes their wedding day look.

What is your favorite kind of wedding makeup that you like to do for your brides?

I don’t necessarily like one style in particular. My main goal is to make my brides look fresh and clean. I would say my main focus is on their skin and eyes. I pay close attention to their individual bone structure, eye color and hair color. I often pull inspiration from the smallest details of their wedding.

What is the best piece of wedding day advice you can give to Colorado brides?

Aside from drink more water than usual the week before and have a plan for crazy weather, I would have to say the best piece of advice I’ve heard from someone who has been married is to pick three things that you will get upset about. By narrowing the list of frustrations, you are saving yourself so much unnecessary anxiety on such an amazing day!
