For Jaclyn + Charlie’s adorably sweet session, we did their downtown Denver engagement photos near Speer Boulevard Park and one of my favorite areas, Riverfront Park. With both locations being so close in proximity to the new Union Station developments, these are two of my preferred photo spots and I’m glad Jaclyn + Charlie picked them both for their engagement session!
Next May, these two educators (see, adorable I tell you!) will be getting married at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield. They’ve selected the red barn for their reception venue and I absolutely cannot wait! I second-shot a wedding there this summer with my good friend Cassie, and the possibilities for gorgeous photos are endless.
Some of my favorite things from this shoot:
- Charlie’s awesome fish shirt + Jaclyn’s cute-as-a-button striped red dress
- The little bike n’ brick combo we found near the Highlands that felt more like a street corner in Paris than it did Denver
- Jaclyn + Charlie’s real, genuine smiles + laughter
I’m so excited to celebrate with these two this coming May! Congratulations to the happy couple. Thank you for stopping by!

Mini-interview with the bride- and groom-to-be
How did you two meet? (from Jaclyn) We met through my co-worker, and now bridesmaid, at a happy hour when I first moved to Denver. We were introduced that night but it was a year or so before Charlie worked up the courage to ask me out.
How did you get engaged? (from Jaclyn) Charlie proposed on January 6th in my living room. He brought a map of Denver and had put markers on different important locations in our relationship (our first date, our first kiss, etc.). The last one marked my apartment and he said, “This is where I will propose to you.” Then, he got down on one knee and popped the question!
Where was the ring purchased? (from Charlie) Because of my infatuation with the radio jingle played on every station in Denver, I went to the Shane Co. in Westminster for the ring. I had a good idea of what Jaclyn liked, and it took less than 30 minutes to pick the diamond, band and accent diamonds. It was actually a lot easier than I anticipated.
What are you most looking forward to for the wedding? What are you enjoying planning? (from Charlie) Besides sealing the deal with Jaclyn, and making her my wife, I think the thing I am most looking forward to about the wedding is my family and friends getting to hang out and party with Jaclyn’s family and friends. We have a lot of out of town guests who will get to experience Colorado for the first time and I have literally had dreams about our friends and family getting along great and having an amazing time at our reception.
As far as planning goes, I would have to say we have had a blast registering stuff. Does that count? Going shopping with the little gun and just shooting everything you want is awesome. It was not as overwhelming as we thought, I think because Jaclyn made sure I get to do the gun more than half the time.
