Colorado is a truly stunning state, no matter the time of year. But there is something so incredibly enchanting + romantic about taking photos in the winter time here, with a sprinkling of snow in the background, highlighted by the sparkling sun. Jessica + John’s Red Rocks engagement photos embody both of these qualities, and I’m so excited to share my favorites from their chilly but love-filled engagement session this past November! Make sure you read on to hear more about this cute couple, who were full of laughter + smiles despite the chilly temperature at this shoot. Thank you for stopping by the blog, and keep an eye out for their wedding this coming June!

Mini-interview with the bride-to-be
How did you two meet? We were both working at Colorado Ski and Gold. I knew I liked what I saw and needed a way in. So I became an overnight college basketball expert and asked if John wanted to “catch some of the tournament” at a bar and six years later here we are!
P.s.: I’m not a sports guru whatsoever but John is!
How did you become engaged? We have always loved to ski and snowboard together. We were spending a romantic weekend in Breckenridge right before Christmas in 2013 and John asked on our last run of the trip in front of a crowd and the whole thing was caught on camera!
How did you end up selecting your wedding venue? What do you like about it? We knew we wanted our wedding to feel like Colorado but wanted to keep it here in town. I knew I wanted a big white tent. We both have lots and lots of out of town family and friends so we wanted to choose a place that would be really easy for our guest to enjoy there time with us. So, the Inverness outside space (the Aspen Terrace) seemed just right! With the hotel attached it will make it a one-stop spot for our guests and will allow our party to continue all night long!
What are you most excited about for your wedding day? For it to be here! We have been together a while and to get to the next step and to make the official commitment to another is so special. We also cant wait to share our time with those who love and support us most!
What is one piece of advice or tip you can give to other brides- and grooms-to-be who are also planning their wedding right now? Slow down! The to-do list timelines are recommendations. They are smart recommendations, but do not let yourself feel like a “bad bride” because you are behind on a thing or two. It will all work out! But do book the vendors that are important to you early. That way you get who you want! I would start with a certain photographer I know…
What do you love about your significant other?
Jess about John: I love that John keeps me attached to earth and slows me down when I get going too fast and always with a joke. He forces me to stop and smell the roses and that makes life altogether so much more enjoyable! I cannot wait to get our family started! John has always taken great care of me and been there for me on every level, whether that’s emotional, or doing the laundry. I feel so lucky to be his girl.
John about Jess: Everything. She is goofy and serious, she cares about others, has always loved me for exactly who I am and has always challenged me to be the best man I can be. She is beautiful and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with her.
